J&K announces eight phase DDC polls from Nov 28

In the first major exercise of electoral rights after the abrogation of Article 370, the Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) poll panel has announced to hold District Development Council (DDC) polls in the Indian union territory to be held in eight phases from November 28 to December 22.The polls for the vacant seats of sarpanchs and panchs and Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) would also be held simultaneously with the DDC Polls.The government had in October amended the Jammu and Kashmir Panchayati Raj Act to provide for setting up of District Development Councils in each district which will have directly elected members, marking the implementation of the entire 73rd Constitutional Amendment in the union territory.Addressing a press conference, the newly appointed State Election Commissioner, K.K Sharma ...

J&K govt sanctions six transit accommodation for Kashmiri migrant employees in valley

The Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) government has accorded sanction for the construction of six transit accommodation for Kashmiri migrant employees in the valley at a cost of Rs 201.60 crore under Prime Minister's development package.   A four-member committee headed by Principal Secretary, Revenue Department, has been set up to resolve all matters pertaining to the identification and transfer of land to the Department of Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction by November 15.   An order issued by the General Administrative Department (GAD) said that the proper rate analysis and market survey is being conducted in light of standing rules and procedures.   The locations include Marhama-Bijbehara in Anantnag district, Wandhama-Lar in Ganderbal district, Fatehpora in Baramulla district, Al

J&K Football Association conducts refresher course for referees

In the Indian union territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the J&K Football Association (JKFA) conducted a refresher course for fresh referees, followed by conducting annual examination for category 4 and 5 at TRC Srinagar.Around 60 referees from different districts participated in the examination of which 35 referees of Jammu/Kathua also participated in the online examination. Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Sky Running Association, in collaboration with Foreshore Athletes organized a thrilling, high-altitude ‘Sky Running Championship’ on Wednesday where participants covered a total of seven kilometers from Astanmarg to Paragliding point to and fro.The running was flagged off by SP city east Sheema Nabi Qasba along with SHO Harwan Mohd Ayoub Rather. Asia] J&K: 6380 candidates get income certificates under Jan Abhiyan Yojna

In the Indian union territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the Department of education and revenue organized a mega camp for all the educational zones of the central Kashmir’s district Ganderbal in which income certificates were issued to scores of eligible candidates and students under the government’s ongoing Jan Abhiyan Yojna.The main functions were held at GMS Chattergul Payeen, MS Kathi Wangath, MS Barnabugh, MS Margund, GMS Kangan, BMS Preng, MS Durpora and MS Haripora. Tehsildar, Kangan, Abdul Majeed Rather and Tehsildar Lar among other Naib Tehsildars issued the income certificates to around 6,380 eligible students in presence of the Zonal Education Officer of Kangan. The programme was held under the aegis of Chief Education Officer, Ganderbal and Deputy Chief Education Officer Ganderbal.
