China supporting Taliban to smoothen its Belt and Road initiative

As the withdrawal of the NATO troop is coming to end, the Americans have left many weapons which are now in the hands of Taliban in order to take more humans out of the country. Meanwhile China is supporting Taliban with all the way possible as China is ready to expand its Belt and Road initiative and exploit the mineral resources. Chinese officials met with the Taliban at the end of July before their takeover of Afghanistan with world leaders questioning the reasoning behind the meet.  Political pundits have suggested the superpower wishes to exert influence over Afghanistan by getting close to the Taliban and potentially help fund the group for their future plans.  Afghanistan also has a lot of natural minerals in the country, including lithium, which China may seek t...

Doha peace talk will bring end to the war: Amrullah Sale

Kabul, Afghanistan: "The intra-Afghan dialogue was flawed from the very beginning as the Taliban never believed in a political solution to the decades-long conflict," Saleh said. Saleh further called for the international recognition of the resistance pocket in Panjshir and for providing him with moral and political support, Sputnik reported. For a long time, fighters in Panjshir have prevented the capture of the region from Taliban terrorists by firing a heavy machine gun into a deep valley from the top of the rocky mountain. These fighters are from the National Resistance Front (NRF), the remaining strongest force after the siege of Kabul by the Taliban. The valley lies in the Hindu Kush mountains, approximately 90 miles north of Kabul. The Taliban have been unable to take t...

China continues to plan over 100 GW of new coal projects despite rejection from Greenpeace

SHANGHAI: Environmental group Greenpeace said China still continues to plan more than 100 gigawatts (GW) of new coal-fired power capacity despite a decline in new approvals. Local planning agencies approved 24 new coal-fired power plants with a total capacity of 5.2 GW in the first six months of 2021, Greenpeace said. The figure is down nearly 80% from a year earlier, when new projects surged to help China's post-lockdown recovery, but it puts total planned capacity on China's provincial project lists at 104.8 GW, it said - enough to power the whole of the United Kingdom. Earlier this month, a U.N. climate panel said global warming is dangerously close to spiralling out of control and urged immediate, rapid and large-scale action to reduce emissions. China, the world's biggest...

Climate change is real; China facing unprepared summer floods

BEIJING (BLOOMBERG) – Climate change is making the Chinese summer floods worse which the country is not prepared for. Record-breaking rainfall in the central province of Henan killed more than 300 people last month, while downpours continue to swamp cities in several other regions. Two people died last week in Beijing after they were trapped in a car that was submerged under a bridge.  The tragedies are making it clear to policymakers and citizens that Chinese cities, even the capital, are far from ready for the extreme weather events wrought by global warming.  It is not just the threat of floods. Greenpeace research has shown that China’s key metropolises are at risk of longer and hotter summers in the coming decades.  Year after year, officials have vowe

Southeast Asia to break the monopoly of China n network market

TAIPEI: South Asian countries are dependent on China for their networks, now they are improving their 4G and 5G networks in order to break the monopoly of China. The trade war between the United States and China has inspired the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam to expand their ambitions and modernize their industries, while attracting investment flowing out of China and Hong Kong, according to DigiTimes Research. Even though the quality of 4G networks in those countries needs upgrading, they are already implementing 5G on a limited scale. As the Philippines and Thailand generally pursued technology policies friendly to China, Huawei Technologies has not faced the same obstacles as in other countries, according to DigiTimes. In contrast, Vietnam excluded the Chinese com...
