China slams India’s apps ban; Xi Jinping asks PLA to be battle-ready

China has “resolutely opposed” India’s “use of national security as an excuse” after New Delhi’s November 24 decision to ban 43 Chinese apps.“India should immediately correct its discriminatory approach and avoid causing further damage to bilateral cooperation”, said Zhao Lijian, spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry.A separate statement from the Chinese Embassy in New Delhi said China “firmly oppose[s] the Indian side’s repeated use of ‘national security’ as an excuse to prohibit some mobile apps with Chinese background” even as President Xi Jinping told the armed forces to strengthen training under real combat conditions and raise the capability of winning wars during a meeting of the Central Military Commission. On the app ban, China said the two countries should work together to

Taiwan busy in preparations against China

Amid heightened tensions with China, Taiwan has launched a five-day long live fire war games exercise in view of the possible infiltration of the former.Chief of General Staff Huang Shu-kuang started the annual drill on July 13 which tests how democratic Taiwan’s armed forces would repel an invasion from its neighbour. This move comes after China sent the fighter aircraft all over Taiwan which greatly increased diplomatic and military tensions in the region. In response, Taipei also warned the Air Force of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) through its jet.Apparently, China is appalled at the aid given to Taiwan by the United States. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian has said that the US should end its military ties with Taiwan. He said that the cancellation of the deal would n

PLA veterans, hurt cadres could launch ‘armed’ action against CCP regime: Chinese dissident

Chinese dissident Jianli Yang has said that disgruntled retired Army veterans and serving China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) cadres, who are hurt by the treatment meted out by the government, can form a formidable force capable of challenging the leadership of Xi Jinping and launch a collective and "armed" anti-regime action. In an opinion piece, Jianli, son of a former Communist Party leader, said that Beijing, which reels under the fear that the admittance that it had lost troops, that too more in number than its opponent, could lead to such major trouble and domestic unrest, that the very regime of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) could be put at stake."The PLA has long been a key pillar of the CCP's power. If the sentiments of the serving PLA cadres are hurt and they get together w...

Experts analyze China’s invasion of India through mobile apps, 5G

As India steps up economic pressure on China by closing down the digital borders to ensure national security, experts from IT industry and software development explained why it is imperative to curtail the use of Chinese applications and the need to build India’s own capacity to manufacture goods and produce services to counter the Communist Party of China.Former President of National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM) R. Chandrashekhar explained that what separates the Chinese case is based on two factors. Firstly, in other cases, platforms are believed to be used to provide economic gains to the host nations. But in the case of the Chinese apps, there are strong allegations that they have strong links with the Chinese government and the People’s Liberation Army (PLA)

China tries to pacify kin of unsung PLA soldiers killed in LAC face-off

In a failed attempt to please its citizens, China on June 22 attempted to pacify the aggrieved families of the Chinese soldiers killed in clashes with Indian troops along the disputed Line of Actual Control (LAC), without any official recognition from Beijing.Hu Xijin, editor of Global Times, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) regime’s mouthpiece, wrote that “the dead have been treated with the highest respect in the military, and that information will eventually be reported to society at the right time, so that heroes can be honored and remembered as they deserve”.The editorial came two days after a video emerged from China showing that the families of People’s Liberation Army (PLA) personnel were outraged by the fact that unlike Indian soldiers, their martyrs had received no honour and no

What the China-India border clashes mean for all of us

It has been decades that India and China engaged in a clash but June 15th, this year marked the first use of deadly force by the Chinese military against a neighboring state in the 21st Century. While these events have taken many by surprise, Chinese President Xi Jinping has repeatedly made it clear that, as in the 20th Century, in this century too, the use of force will be an integral part of his Communist Party’s approach to its region and to China’s rise to power. It is not just India which faced the Chinese military on the battle field, in the years following the establishment of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) in 1949, Communist Party leaders have used their military against the United States, Vietnam, Taiwan, the Soviet Union, and the United Nations Command in Korea, an internati

Time for an assertive force posture against China

China’s recent intrusions in Galwan Valley and Pangong Tso has once again proved that after years of serious efforts to accommodate or somewhat appease China, India has not yet learned any meaningful lessons about the Chinese strategic mindset. After annexing Tibet, Mao said, Tibet is the palm, and now they must get the five fingers- Ladakh, Nepal, Sikkim, Bhutan, and Arunachal Pradesh. However, India's early leadership was perceptive enough to visualize this and act accordingly by warming up to the five fingers. History between India and ChinaIn 1954, India and China signed the Panchsheel agreement or the Five Principles of Peaceful Co-existence. With it, also began India’s implied support to the doctrine of the “One-China” policy. However, Communist Party of China’s expansionist plans co

What goes behind China’s army?

The Chinese army, or better off, the People’s Liberation Army is not a motivated one. During the time I dealt with the PLA while commanding the Nathu La Brigade, I realized how it is plagued by corruption, outdated command structures and unprofessionalism. As Nathu La was the central point for military communications for EC, I had to speak on the telephone with my counterpart every week and meet with him once a month followed by drinks and meal. Even families from both the sides joined in.My counterpart once told me that he gets only one third of what I get. However, they get “compensation” in the form of various perks like free rations, liquor, cigarettes, domestic help, and schooling for children, college fee, vehicle etc. Basically, this is how the cadre survives, and these little perks
