Congress responds to Jaishankar’s practice of taking national politics abroad: “Man Who Gave You Ministerial Berth”

Randeep Surjewala, general secretary of the Congress, said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had handed the foreign affairs minister a “old script” and that he should read a new one when asked about Jaishankar’s criticism of Gandhi.
On Thursday, the Congress retaliated against External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar for criticizing Rahul Gandhi for recent comments he made in the US, claiming that it was Jaishankar who had appointed him to a ministerial position and that he was the one who had pioneered the practice of taking national politics abroad.

After Jaishankar criticized Gandhi for his “habit” of criticizing India abroad and said that doing so is not in the interests of the country, Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh launched his attack.

In response to a query on the Congress leader’s harsh criticism of the Narendra Modi administration in the United States, Jaishankar said that he had no issue with anything done inside India but that it is inappropriate to bring up domestic problems abroad.

Ramesh tweeted, “The man who started the practice of taking national politics outside the country is none other than the man who gave you (Jaishankar) your ministerial position,” in what seemed to be a dig at Prime Minister Modi. You are aware of it, Dr. Minister, but you refuse to admit it.

Randeep Surjewala, general secretary of the Congress, said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had handed the foreign affairs minister a “old script” and that he should read a new one when asked about Jaishankar’s criticism of Gandhi.

“The prime minister has mocked prior administrations and downplayed the nation’s more than 70-year-old history. The onslaught on our constitutional structures is being planned and methodical, as Rahul Gandhi has said, Surjewala remarked at a news conference.

During the press conference, Jaishankar made the following statement: “Whenever Rahul Gandhi travels overseas, he has a tendency of criticizing the nation and discussing our politics. What is the world seeing when it looks at us? Elections are conducted across the nation, and sometimes one party triumphs over another.

He also radiated assurance that the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will maintain control in the parliamentary elections in the following year by saying, “2024 ka result toh wohi hoga, humein pata hai (we know what will happen in 2024).”

“All of the narratives (against the administration) are produced in the nation, if you look at them. A story is taken abroad if it fails to engage the reader or becomes less compelling. According to the foreign affairs minister, they anticipate that the outside assistance would be successful in India. Gandhi’s credibility would not increase, according to Jaishankar, if national politics are conducted overseas.
