Shouting pro-India slogans, members of the Regional Tibetan Youth Congress staged a protest against China outside the Chinese Consulate in Toronto to show solidarity with India over the recent Chinese military intrusion in Ladakh’s Galwan Valley and to condemn Chinese occupation of Tibet.
“Tibet stands with India”, a protestor can be heard as saying. Protestors condemned the Chinese intrusion and raised slogans in support of India and the Indian Army like “Thank you Indian Army! Free Tibet”.
The protestors held placards that read, ‘Jai Hind Jai Bharat’, ‘Free Tibet’, ‘Tibet belongs to Tibetans’, ‘Stop Genocide in Tibet’ and ‘China out of Tibet now.’
The Regional Tibetan Youth Congress also held similar protests in the New York and New Jersey in the United States.
Twenty Indian soldiers lost their lives in a violent face-off in the Galwan Valley on the night of June 15 after an attempt by the Chinese troops to unilaterally change the status quo during the de-escalation.
Slamming China over its expansionist policies, the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) has also asked the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) to hold a special session on human right violations by China in Tibet and other regions under it.
